I have some SVCD mpeg files that would like to put on DVDs To have the full film on. The main reason is the sound is out of sync. My DVD player is a Toshiba 220E. Some times the sound is OK or using the angle button to change between the sound tracks sorts it.
I tried to use the tutorial on the site but I have not been sucessfull.
I have the latest version (full retail version of Nero, Nero vision and the dvd/mpeg plugin). Nero Vision keeps closing and going back to desk top while calculating files sizes. Some times you may get 1 or 2 mpeg files added, then when you add the next mpeg it crashes, with no error logs.![]()
Can any one tell me if there is a program to do this automatically or how to sort out Nero Vision.
Pete

First, Nero sucks. It's ok for burning computer/pc data or audio discs. But that's about it. When it comes to (x)S/VCDs or DVD it's got a lot of problems.
First take a look at http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcddvdr
Ok, although SVCDs and DVDs are both MPEG2 encoded files they are two totally different formats. The standard SVCD resolution is 480x480 and that resolution is NOT supported by the DVD standard. The only legal DVD resolution are:
720x480, 352x480, and 352x240 (not 704x480 is also supported but in theory just for still images)
All of this is explained in the guide above, but here's an outline:
1) Rip MPEG2 file from SVCD to HD (do not just copy it)
2) De-mux MPEG2 file in TMPGenc to m2v and mp2/mpa files
3) Open the audio file and re-encode it to 48khz (SVCD standard is 44.1khz but if you ripped from a DVD and didn't down sample audio might already be at 48khz. DVD audio MUST be at 48khz)
4) Change m2v video resolution to 352x480 (DVD legal) with DVDPatcher
5) You now have DVD legal video (m2v) and audio (mpa) files. You need to author them (see author links to the left) to generate VTS_xx.vob files.
6) Burn the VOB/IFO files to DVD-R (I normally make a disc image with IMGTools then burn w/ DVD Decryptor) -
I followed the tutorial, However when I changed the header using dvdpatcher, you can only see 2/3 of the picture. If your do not change the header the picture is ok, but there is no sound (on my tosh 220e). But on the PC there is sound and picture.
Do you have any tips to correct this problem.

If you author the SVCD with Ifoedit you don't have to patch the header or convert the audio to 48000. Ifoedit will correct the header automatically and will author with 44100 audio. Do a test to be certain your DVD player can handle the 44100 audio. Works for me.
