  1. Is it just me, or did previous versions of Eazy VCD do all the ripping, encoding and burning for me? I seem to remember this, and now that I upgraded, it doesn't burn for me anymore?

Is there an easy DVD to VCD program that does it all? I am not necessarily looking for the BEST quality, just something that does all the work for a lazy man like myself.... Any suggestions? Please advise!
    Thanks,

I use easy VCD to rip and re-encode the DVD to VCD/SVCD format. Then after its all done,i use Nero burning rom to burn it to a CD-R in VCD format.

    Pretty simple auctually.

I recommend the Terapin VCD recorder.I had one for a long time and everything i made in it looked great.Although it was pretty darn expensive, but that was about 4-5 years ago.Its probabley lowered in price decently by now.

But why buy one of those things when you can do everything with your pc? So far all i need to convert a DVD to VCD is:Easy VCD and nero.

Ah shucks, it can be done with a batch file !

    Typical one click batch file

    @echo off
@echo "Insert DVD Now, and press a key to continue"
    Smartripper
@echo "DVD ripped, press a key to continue"
    pause
    DvdX
@echo "Done converting, press a key to continue"
    pause
    TMPGEnc
@echo "File split into 2, press a key to continue"
    Nero

  8. The best program is DVD2SVCD (http://www.dvd2svcd.org). You will need to install an encoder as well (TMPGEnc or CCE).

It has quite alot of options but most usually default settings are fine. All you need is to load settings for VCD (default are SVCD) which are also supplied.

It will produce BIN/CUE disk image preserving all original DVD chapter information and will produce best quality video.

DCSOS's 2 step guide here: feedback accepted
This METHOD MAKES a DIVX or MPEG-4 "intermovie" to accomplish ease mof operation

USE SMARTRIPPER to extract the movie to your hard drive.

Use VIDOMI by loading all the VOB's representing the MOVIE in QUESTION to transcode to ANY HIGH QUALITY INTERFORMAT you like.(DIVX and MICROSOFT MPEG-4 V1 are good choices)
That is, we're just using VIDOMI to handle changing the AC3 audio stream to MPEG AUDIO.
WE'RE GOING to get a new file from VIDOMI, it will be DIVX with PCM 48,000 or 44,000 so we can drop our resultant INTERMEDIATE MOVIE
into VEGAS 3.0 or ADOBE PREMIERE 6.5 and just pull down to use the MPEG-1 TEMPLATE for VCD..
    EASY HUH?

all you gotta do is keep the BIT RATE HIGH enough in the INTERMEDIATE MOVIE so you dont see artifacting when you return to MPEG.
I suggest 3.5 million bits a second for VCD
    or
6.5 Million Bits if you re-render a dual layer DVD to a single layer lower bitrate version

also for audio use 44,000 in VIDOMI for VCD or 48,000 for DVD recreation

HOPE THIS HELPS and make sure you are the copyright owner

You don't need TMPG, IFO edit, FLASK, DVDx or Vobrator in this way.

King John's guide is probably productive of a better VIDEO CD because your stream is not re-encoded 2x like in my method.
The Only reason I published mine, is it has a lot less user settings. Some may wanna go this way...
