  1. Neither smartripper or dvd decrypter could unlock one of the files (chapter 22)

Powerdvd couldn't play chapter 22 either.

However, it played fine in my player.

    Odd.

  2. I ripped Apocalypse Now - Redux fine using Smartripper, sounds like you might have a dodgy disc, Certain drives are a bit more fussy about reading scratched or marked discs

My drive is definitely more fussy about reading scratched discs than my standalone player. Ironically, I was unable to backup same movie for this reason. Too bad! Excellent film!

  4. yeah, the disc looked like it got attacked by a cat, pretty scratched up.
Usually the lite-on 16x i use for ripping is pretty good about scratched up
    discs.

But yes, it's a great movie, I own the original. However, the added scenes were great.

  5. I had similar problem the other week - I rented a movie, but it was scratched & kept jumping. So I put it in My PC - copied it & watched the copy with no problems.

I assume this is counted as 'fair usage' It's certainly quicker & cheaper than driving back to the video store & swapping it.
