  1. Hi There,

I have been trying to download video from my dv camcorder (canon zr40) and make an SVCD using ULEAD video studio 6, to play in my DVD player(toshiba sd 3800). Recording to SVCD squishes the aspect ratio of the DV to square (480 x 480). When the video is played it is sqished in the horizontal and looks terrible. Is there a way have the video clipped instead of squished when recording or any other way so it looks nice on a TV?

    Thank you very much
    Colin

PS I have searched the forum and have not found info regarding this. If there is a lot of info regarding this, please forwad me to this info

if you were to read a little, you would find that 480x480 is svcd resolution and it looks like a square. but on a tv it will look like its supposed to.

It sounds like you are trying to play your SVCD on a version of Windows Media Player that does not support DAR(display aspect ratio) flags. Older WMP does not support DAR flags. You need a new player that supports it like PowerDVD or WinDVD and it will play the correct aspect ratio on your PC. Like Conquest says, if you play it on your standalone on your TV it should play correctly because your standalone player supports DAR.
