A serious question

i was not sure where to post this question so i figure it is a authoring problem maybe ok here goes

My statment is this how come i have a zenith Standalone DVD player(Model not important) that plays DVDr's burned from a DL i got off the internet which was a DVD image and it plays this fine but it will not play anything i make myself? I Make Svcds and i then create audio file and the Video and place it in one folder and then take another group and place it in another then useing DVD mastero and creat a menu and place them both on to the DVD using the same media as the one above and it will not play in that Player! can someone please tell me why it does this what is that moive done differently then i have is it the DVD authoring software? or is it just maybe a different bitrate can anyone help me with this problem thanks in advance
