  1. My girlfriend had a Cyberhome 528 dvd player, which I bought her for xmas. It was working ok, it played Region 1 and 2 etc discs, but some discs it wouldnt play properly, so I took it back, and upgraded to a better player - the same as the player I have , the PIONEER DV-350.

They made it multiregion in the shop, and I took it to her house and hooked it up.

Worked as usual. But when I played a region 1 NTSC dvd the screen on the tv messed up, flickering rapidly, making it impossible to see the picture. The dvd played, just the picture was messed up.

Now, her region one dvd played fine with the cyberhome player, on the same tv, so why do they not play now?

I have the same player and they work fine on mine, I even took her player to my house and tried it there and it worked fine on my tv.

So I guess it is a tv problem? Her tv cannot accept an NTSC signal? So why did the cyberhome work? Does it have a Pseudo-PAL sort of signal?

I guess my question is - what can I do now? What are the options (aside from a new tv). Can you purchase an NTSC -> PAL encoder or something?

Thanks for any help with this.......

My guess would be that the TV doesn't support NTSC. Some DVD players have inbuilt converters to play NTSC discs on PAL TVs. The player that outputted a working picture from a region 1 disc probably had this feature.

  3. I had exactly the same problem with my 454. Make sure the output is set to RGB in the menus - the other 2 options are video and s video. If you're connecting via SCART, select the RGB one and everything should be OK.

My problem now is going through the line 3 on the video region 1 disks only play in black and white Anyone know why???
