first cd,plese help

right i currently trying to make my first vcd.I have downloaded shrek from the internet in the DivX (.avi) format.have put this into tmpg to encode it to mpeg.but when i did a preview ,i got no sound ,is this because the program does not support AC3 and the audio files are in this medium.If so how can i sort this out.si there a guide to usiing virtualdub,if this is the case.
