    I am looking for software for ripping dvd'd but without a dvd rom if possible can anybody help.

    If you have a DVD set top player & a vid cap card in the PC, otherwise consider a DVDROM drive as the prices are quite reasonable now. CD drive will not read a DVD, period. Maybe encode via flashlight?
