I created two CVD's of the same vhs video (first 40 minutes of Wrath of Kahn).

I captured to avi 640x480 Huffyuv via VirtVCR. Audio is in synch in original avi. Picture quality is very good.

Using VirtDub I did a direct stream copy (video and audio) of the first 40 minutes to a 2nd avi.

The 2nd avi was coded to a CVD compliant mpeg (352x480) 2520 constant bit rate and audio 192 br/48khz, using both Tmpgenc 2.51 and CCE 2.64 demo.

The Tmpgenc CVD plays flawlessly in my Pioneer DV333. No hiccups. Audio is in perfect synch.

The CCE CVD plays but the audio drags and so does the video. It looked like I had the wrong filed order in CCE so I changed it to bottom field. And recoded but still I had the same problem. The video looks much the same as when I encode in Tmpgenc but select the wrong field order.
Audio synch is off by 2-3 secs and appears to drag (words are broken). I also tried audio at 44khz in CCE and had the same problem.

As far as speed the same avi took slightly over 3 hours to encode in Tmpenc. CCE 2.64 demo took just over an hour. I did use the slowest motion setting in Tmpgenc. In CCE quality was set to the best (0).

I wonder how Ligos LSX 3.5 would compare ?

Any thoughts on this....

Oh well back to the Maple Leafs game on Hockey Night in Canada.
