  1. Iīm using a LG DRD 8160B in my PIII, 700mhrz, with XP and got some problems to read my regular DVD discs. The system simply doesnīt recognize the disc in the drive, the regular CDs and CD-R work perfectly... Iīve tried to upgrade the firmware, change the player software and nothing happens. Whatīs funny is that sometimes the drive recognize the disc, just sometimes, and different DVDs, I thought it was a problem with the discs and wasnīt...
    Any idea?

    I've had that problem with a Sony DVD-ROM and Columbia Tristar DVDs. Never solved the problem

  3. Dirty lens? Flaky DVD laser? (drives use different lasers for DVD and CD)

    i have had that same problem!!... i bought the Enough DVD and it doesn't work on my computer (it crashes).... but i have a NEC dvdrom drive... maybe Columbia Tristar is doing something funny with their DVDs..... hmm....

    Sorry to say that, but the LG DVD standalones are crap. I've never seen a good one.
