  1. Hi all

    Can anyone help me out with some problems. Firstly, I have downloaded an mpeg file which has an embedded link in it so that when you play it you get loads of URL's appear. How do I go about stripping the file of this.

    Also, secondly, although I can play it on my computer, I cannot retrieve any info. as to what codec it uses. I've tried using G Spot, to no avail.
    The files won't open in Premiere or Vegas Video!

    Thirdly, the file is part of many files which I have tried linking together with various mpeg joiners. Camel's mpegjoin seems to have come the closest, but falls over when it reaches 98%. I have no other problems when joining other files using this program.

    A penny for your thoughts?

    Will it load into TMPGEnc ? to be converted to something else.

    Will it load into Vdub ? Yes (*.mpg) = mpeg 1 No Mpeg 2

  3. Thanx King JOhn

    I've tried to use TMPGenc., and tested 1 file and it seemed to strip the embedded link O.k and actually improved the sync on the sound.

    However I can't seem to find the option to select an output file which is 320X240 to keep it in the same dimensions as the source file.

    I've since discovered some of the files properties.

    WMF 2 streams
    Audio = 32Khz, Mono, WMA v.8 codec
    Video = 320x240, 24bit, 30fps, WMV v.7 codec, no fields

    If the files are encoded with the WIndows Media codecs does that mean that they are not true mpeg files, should I rename the file extensions as .wmv or .avi. This might explain why I can't get some file type identifiers to work with them.

    BTW, When trying to use the Batch encode function of TMPenc, it tells me that my source files are not .mpegs.

    Any thoughts.
    Thanx in advance

  4. Yes you have a WMV file named as a MPG. You can youse the methods in the Convert section of this site. TMPGenc may work - load the VCD template to keep the size althouth the quality may not be as good. You might try the SVCD template also.

    Thought you might sort it with TMPGEnc those darn people who rename files to fool you are a pain. so many ASF/WMV renamed to .mpeg or .avi

    You can load the unlock template in TMPGEnc then hit settings, make it what every size you want
