  1. I ripped and authored Signs, and the movie is like 13megs too large to burn. This is just the movie itself, and one audio track (no subs). In a situation like this, is there anything than can be done besides transcoding the m2v file?

    Thanks

If your burner supports "overburn" that should give you the extra space. On an 80 minute CD I have overburned up to about 25-30meg extra.

  3. I have a Sony DRU500A, which I'm pretty sure won't overburn. Any other ideas?

  4. not sure what you mean by transcoding the m2v file, but I had a similar problem with a film recently being seven minutes too long for a 900MB CD-R (which if your CDRW doesn't overburn wouldn't be any good for you either).

I found the answer in this guide: http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=84759

  5. maybe transcoding was the wrong word, I basically don't want to have to encode the video using CCE or any of the others unless it's neccessary.

Bahnzo, just to be clear here, are you trying to make a DVD-r copy, or a (S)VCD?
I just ripped Signs, and the entire movie was just a tad bit too big for a DVD-R, so i removed the French Audio stream, and left just English, and this was enough to get it onto one DVD-R for me.

  9. yeah... load up tmpgenc - mpeg tools ->

    first merge the video/audio as a mpeg2-program

then go to the merge cut tab, and cut off the credits and the
    opening logos if needed.

See, that's wierd, because I ripped everything except the movie and English audio and it was 13 megs too big to fit on a DVD-R for me.

I did get it to fit finally. Here's a good guide to cutting credits from a vob. It's quick and easy: http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=133632&highlight=vobedit

I only had to cut a small amount to get it to fit.....
