  1. I have burned two VCDs using Easy CD Creator 5 and neither one has come close to working on my Panasonic RV31UK player. Both of them seem to get stuck in the read mode where the player is detecting the format of the disc in the drive. Anyone have any ideas?

  2. IF the mpeg-1 file itself plays fine on your PC, sounds like you are not burning properly....if the VCD disk, doesnt play when placed in the PC CD-ROM drive, then again, sounds like you aren't burning properly...if it DOES play in your PC CD-Rom drive..then it sounds like you got a bad player...because, I had that player, return it for one that plays miniDVDs, but anyways, I know for a fact that it plays VCDs....I dont use Easy CD, but you can list your steps & I'll try to help you out...although I would recommend using Nero, which I have much more experience in using..

  3. I basically followed the steps in Rich's guide on this site, although it did seem a bit light on details. I followed that step by step and the VCD I burned just wouldn't work. Any tips? OBTW thanks for the reply.

  4. OK, I'm still kind of new at this, but here's some of the problems I've run into and what I found so far:

I burned a vcd from a mpeg that my Sony dig. cam created. My Sony DVD player (530D) would recognize the disc and play, but no pic or sound. From the sound of your description, your dvd player may be having trouble recognizing even the vcd.

I downloaded an avi (divx) movie and converted it to mpeg using tmpg. At first, I tried a higher fps (50 fps) (thinking I would get better quality). The mpeg played fine with WMP, but after I burned it with Nero, I was not able to play the .dat file with WMP (note: you should be able to just open the .dat file with WMP and play). This vcd, again would get recognized and start playing, but no pics. I encoded the avi again with tmpg, but this time, I used the NtscVCD template from tmpg. Burned it with Nero. Opened the .dat file with WMP and it played fine. Stuck the vcd in my dvd player, and it played fine as well. There is still a lot more to discover, but at least I'm moving forward. Also worth noting, different dvd players may or may not like different types of media. I've read from many posts that my Sony 530D will play most cd-rw's and a few cd-r's. To test this, I've wasted a handfull of various cd-r media and none worked. I used an old CompUSA cdrw (2x) and it works fine. Hope this helps.

  5. Thanks, Wangster, I'll give it a try with Nero and see what happens. Actually my DVD player was recognizing the VCD as a VCD (the little led indicator lit up), but like you, no picture or sound, just the DVD logo screen. Thanks again for the tips. I'll give that method a try and let you know how it works out.
