  1. I'm trying to dump a dvd into a DV file to export out to a pro DVCAM deck. Luckily both formats have the same resolution, but I can't find an uncompressed/low compression avi codec that is also compatable with quicktime (quicktime being the only app I could find that converts to DV). I've tried DVD2AVI with huffyuv but quicktime can't seem to be able to read it. My whole emphasis is not losing quality from the dvd to the dv file.

and yes I was going to opt with an analog-to-digital conversion box, and capturing the dvd through firewire, but I was unable to procure a macrovision-free dvd player in time.

  2. i've used Videostudio 4.1 to convert files to DV, but i paid for that... it opens every type of avi file that i've thrown at it.

Also, i use Vegas Video, which can also open any kind of avi file...

  3. oh, and for something in real time in analog, use the s-video cable for the video and the normal audio... i tried that before, and it worked just fine. But i'm pretty sure the quality might be lower...
