    Hey guys,

I need some advice. I have done a couple of backups following the DVD2DVDR for Beginners guide. I use DVD2AVI v 1.76 to rip the audio. I ALWAYS get 2 channel sound (I'm 0 for 4). Am I missing a setting or something to get 6 channel? Do I need to buy a new soundcard? I currently have an ancient Creative Soundblaster card.

As a side note, Im thinking of buying a new DVD-ROM drive to make the ripping go faster. Is 16x the fastest? I think I have a 4x now or something.... what would everyone reccomend?

    Thanks!

  2. If you use Smartripper or DVD Decryptor you can get AC3 file, which will be 6 channels (provided the movie is 6 channels of course!). You can then author using your fav authoring prog.

Look for the guides for using DVD Decryptor and Smartripper, either on this site or at doom9.org

  4. Well, you'd have to tell us when you get 2 channel sound. On your PC? In a DivX encode? In a SVCD? Encoded how? ...

Check the Setting so you only have Demux
and not Dolby Surround Down Mix turned on.

Also check what audio track you have selected,
    some DVD comes with a 6channel and a 2channel surround pre-downmix.
