  1. witch resolution is better when encoding. i encoded with 352x240 and it was ok, but was thinkin it might be better to up it? am i right or wrong. thankx. also about motion search what should that be on? i want these movies to come out real good, no matter how long it takes. thats what sleep is for! lol thankx

  2. 352x240 is the VCD standard resolution, so using anything else you'll be out of standard, just a caution.

    Now, if you use a higher resolution, you'll have to use a higher bitrate to compensate for the greater amount of pixels there are. If you want better quality, i'd recommend going with SVCD. That way, you'll get better quality and stay in standards. SVCD uses a resolution of 480x480. Your bitrate will depend on the length of your film and how much you want on a single cd. If your movie is, lets say 90 min, then you can use an avg. bitrate of about 2200 and fit the movie onto 2 80 Min. CD's.

    Look over this info, and see what works for you.

  4. Higher is not always better. Apart from the compliance problem, if you also don't have the bitrate to support the higher frame size, it simply means you seem more visible MPEG artifacts.

    I don't think 640 x 480 resolution is supported by that many standalone DVD players. Try it and see. Other more compatable resolutions would be 704 x 480, 480 x 480 and 352 x 480.
