    Hi,

Should have added that I want ther mPeg saved as just that rather than an avi which i think virtual dub does ..

  3. The best way to do this would be to convert it to mpeg audio 224k/44.1khz (VCD format) using Toolame, just about the best encoder out there. Then its just a case of doing a simple multiplex using Tmpgenc.

You can find Toolame in the tools section...

  4. ok ..thanks .. done that ...

the results are .. ummm about 99% ok ....

THe audio is not 'quite' in sync with the video .... is this part of the multiplex process or the raw files (by the way the WAV was generated from a movie which had .ac3 and so its been through all sorts of disruption on the way ....

is there a prog which could adjust this ?

  5. Are you trying to convert a Divx (AVI) file with AC3 audio to MPEG?, If so then just load the file into Tmpgenc as the video and audio source, as long as you have to right codecs, there shouldn't be a problem...

  6. thanks for your help in this ..

yes I am - but the further complication (as I see it) is that its a XVID with AC3 ,,,

The only thing that has played the video part of the XVID with out a green fringe and blurred playback has been virtual dub - but that could not handle the audio ...

So I have extracted the audio to ac3 - then changed to WAV with AZID ...

For the video i could not get tmpgenc to accept the vid (even after changing the settings in environment) - BUT I could get Virtual DUB to act as a server into TMPGenc ....

Anyway to cut a long story short I made a mistake with the files and ended up with a MPEG1 video (looks great) and the WAV file .....

the rest as they say is history ....

After doinf what you said the results are .. good, apart from the sync problem I'm now trying to sort ...

    cheers

  7. I haven't tried this, but here goes...

Load your video file into Virtualdub, select WAV Audio, and load up your WAV file. You should now be able to play the file in Virtualdub with audio. Check that the audio is in sync, if so then frame serve the audio and video to Tmpgenc (not 100% sure about being able to serve the audio though). If the audio is out of sync then Go to the Audio/Interleaving option and you can adjust the audio delay by +/- X milliseconds.
