Maybe you are burning it to a virtual device..??
Try clicking on the recorder menu, select "choose recorder" and then select your cd burner. -
now that i chose the right burner.....nero shuts down everytime i try and add a movie to the list ....any insight? please...

Are you trying to use Nero to convert the movie? It is capable of doing it, but you will have better results if you first convert with TMPGE and then just use Nero as only to burn it to cd..
I really don't know why Nero is crashing on you, but take a look at the FAQ section under help in the Nero software.. it addresses some conflicts you may have with other software and/or aspi drivers.
Below is one section from the help files:
---------------
Please check the following possible reasons for these problems:
1. Did you install several different recording programs (like WinOnCD, EasyCDCreator, Gear, DirectCD, ...) on your PC? If so, then it's always a good idea to deinstall all recording programs except the one, you want to use. This helps to avoid driver conflicts.
2. Did you both install DirectCD and Nero? Nero and DirectCD are incompatible. Unfortunately, you must deinstall one of both programs to be able to use the other one. Ahead is working on a solution.
3. Atapi recorders: Maybe the system becomes unstable, because outdated WinAspi drivers are installed. Registered Nero users should get into contact with ahead in this case. E-mail: support@nero.com
4. Atapi recorders: Did you install a busmaster IDE driver? Some outdated busmaster drivers are incompatible with recording software. Maybe you need an update of your busmaster driver or need to deinstall it.

Another possible solution:
If your making standard vcd's you may want to give Unlead DVD studio a try, I like it and it's easier to use but it only works with the standard vcd and svcd.
For kwags templates I always burn with Nero - and it really seems to be a superior product.
Hopefully someone with more experience and know-how will answer your post, I'm really little more than a newbie myself so I don't know what else to suggest, but I hope I've been of some help.. I know how frustrating it can be getting started.. but keep at it and you'll get past the snags!!
good luck!
