To rip DVDs I use Smartripper>DVD2AVI>Tmpgenc. The problem is the audio is always out of sync. I know how to use Tmpgenc to adjust it, only I JUST CAN'T GET IT RIGHT!!! Do other readers have a method or even an App they use to get this right? HELP!

open your movie back up in tmpgenc and encode a very small section, maybe 200 frames of someone talking. then ajust the audio gap until you get it fixed. try all sorts of numbers when you use the audio gap.

Another methode is to encode the audio and video seperately and then mux them together.
1) Rip DVD
2) Use DVD2AVI to generate D2V and wav file
3) Use tooLame to encode wav -> MP2 file
4) Use TMPGenc to encode ONLY the video to a MPV file
5) Use bbMPEG to mux the MP2 and MPV -> MPG file
you might want to skip the first 5 frames when you mux (as sometimes starting at 0 can cause sync problems too). -
I use DVDX
an amazing program dat actually rip in real time.
So its basically a 1 step processes and da audio is always in sync and it makes VCD standard MPEG1's and also SVCD standard MPEG2's
the program is under tools section of http:///www.vcdhelper.com

Thanks, but DVDx never seems to give the same results as Tmpgenc. The latest version (1.3) is a big improvment on the first, If they improve picture quality then I will definatly use this very handy App.

The problem went away for me when I started using the "Forced Film" setting in DVD2AVI. This also improves the quality of the video, since it restores it to its original 23.976 framerate.
