  1. Hello all...this is my first post, hope someone can help.

I have used a number of programs to try and make a vcd of some still photos (jpegs) so i can view them on my tv using my Pioneers DVD player (model HTZ-55DV) which supports vcd.
When I view the pictures they are always in black and white...NOT colour. I use the PAL setting because I'm in Australia. I tried NTSC but the result is the same. I have a Samsung tv.
I also have Easy CD Creator Platinum, and the result is the same (b&w pics). it's a good program, but for some reason you have to add an audio file (whether you want to or not) in order to burn the vcd.
Can someone offer some help/reason why the pics are not in colour?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul[/i]

  2. Paul,

Is this (b&w) problem ocurring only when you burn still pictures. Your VCD with videos are OK ? If yes - try VcdEasy (www.vcdeasy.org) this program will create really "fully compiant" VCD with your MPEG stills (photos). You can also try to put a small video on you VCD with MPEG stills and see if the problem persists in this case...

  3. Chivi,

Thanks for your reply. I tried making a vcd of an mpg movie, but the result is still the same: black and white. I'm using Easy cd creator 5's video impressions. I've tried about 4 programs so far and the result is always the same. In Easy cd creator when making the choice between
PAL and NTSC the PAL says 352x288. Do you need to change the mpeg's original size or something?

  4. Hi,

OK let's start from the beginning.
You can download the file below:
    http://www.vcdimager.org/pub/vcdimager/examples/demovcd/v0.3/pal/demovcd-pal.zip (about 40 megs)
It is a VCD 2.0 PAL Demo. If you still have problems with that one you have to look at your player/tv/cables...
I suppose you look DVDs on your player and you have colors - what is the system on your DVDs (pal, ntsc ?)
Do you use an s-video cable for your video signal ?

  5. Chivi,

Thanks again for the help. I d/loaded the file but could not burn it using Fireburner...error came up. I may use something else.
Yes, my DVDs are in colour when I watch them. The system on my DVDs is PAL. Sorry, but what is an 's' video cable?
Which program do you suggest for burning the cue/bin files? and how do you do it?
    Thanks again,
    Paul

  6. Paul,

Its strange because normaly Fireburner doesn't have any problems with cue/bin files. I am sure that the latest version of Nero (you can download a trial) deals OK with cue/bins. You can try as well Vcdeasy (www.vcdeasy.org) it is a very good free (S)VCD authoring tool and it includes burning tool cdrdao - you have 80% chance that it supports your burner...
If your pal dvds work fine it is not a cable of system problem.

All is now sorted.. it was a setting in my DVD player that needed changing. Thanks so much for your help.
