    Hi, I am new here, and was wondering if there is anyway of changing something on a DVD player which can't play CD-R/RW so that it can play CD-R/RW without buying a new player. thanks so much!!!

    Not really. It is the laser pickup system that is the heart of the player and the type of system (single or multi) that makes it capable of reading CD-Rs. With multi mode DVD players starting at around $70.00. I do not see the point, as changing a single system to a multi system will probably cost more than buying a new multi system. And your new player will still be under warranty.
