Dvix on tv with a Canon digicamcorder

I would see my divx on the tv with my G4 933 (no video out). I got a Canon Mvx2i. I've connected the canon to the mac and to tv (pal). Then i open imovie, open a movie (before i convert the avi in dv with quick time) and can see it on the tv. Works. The canon works like a converter. But i loose quality and the file converted is too big (for a 2 mega avi i have a 80 mega dv).
I would know if there is any chance to do that with other software like vcl or quick time to see my dvix, via canon, on the tv. Is it possible? I'm getting mad.

this is something i keep tryin to point out to all these divx maniacs who think divx is the best thing since sliced bread--- yeh maybe it will look good/almost dvd on a small computer screen, once u put it on a decent size tv then divx starts to crap out b/c imho divx SUCKS... but thats just me once you convert to dv just author to SVCD or VCD usin ffmpegx and go from there (providing you have a dvd player that plays svcd or vcd)

Thanks Bilestyle for the answer. I did it, without converting the divx to dv, but my question was if it's possible use a digital camcorder like a converter from mac to tv with software like quicktime or other. About divx on tv: my brother has a pc and he sees divx on tv. Not that bad. He puts his legs on the table and stay confortable for two hours. I would do the same

I know Final Cut Pro will output to TV using the camera as a converter. I think most of the other video editing software programs will also. I think you just need a program that will output a signal via the Firewire port. Don't know if a free one, but it may exist.

Yes Mac, that is the question: which software playing divx can do that? Fcp is able to play divx? I don't know. Nobody knows?
