  1. I am encoding a two hour divx to vcd would it be better to encode each half or to encode the whole thing and then split it. Would either one be better quality? I would rather do the whole thing and split it if quality is the same. how would i go about doing this?

  2. by encoding each half you mean the divx movie is 2 parts and you want to reencode into 2 mpg files? or you mean the movie is one file and you want to convert it into 2 mpg files?

If it's the second case, I would recommend getting the whole movie in one mpg and then splitting.

    just my 2 cents

  3. I find the easiest, quickest and most successful method of splitting the DIVX into 2 equal sized MPEG's is to :
Use the source range in TMPGE.....move slider to end of movie ,calculate halfway point of your movie, mark as movie end frame,File > Save Project (all your settings are already in place of course)..Give it a name in Output (eg:Movie-1.mpg),back into TMPGE ,Source Range, whatever end frame number was on part one..this now becomes starting point for part 2,move slider to end of movie, and set as movie end frame, give name(movie-2.mpg),File > Save Project.
    File > Batch Encode > Add Project Movie-1 and 2 > Run.

This is also easier because you are splitting and encoding at the same time and the end results are impressive.
