  1. ok, here's my problem. i've been trying to backup this dvd i have and keep getting errors on the 01_03.vob file. i've used smartripper, dvddecryptor, and dvd2svcd to rip it and they all ahve the same problem. i even tried to straight copy it to my harddrive and it still got and error at the same file. i've done this before with another dvd using dvd2svcd and it worked fine. anyone got any ideas?

  2. make sure there are no scratches, dirt, dust, etc. AT ALL on the DVD disc....better clean the disc and try again...

also, try playing that vob with winDVD/powerDVD to let the DVD-ROM actually play that particular vob

have you tested on a friend's DVD-ROM..that's the best way to tell if the problem is the DVD itself or the DVD-ROM??

  3. i tried it also on my laptop computer and it still has the same error for that vob file. the error is Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

i checked for scratches and stuff and it looks fine. i even tried playing it on wma, interactual, and powerdvd. they all give me errors on that file. well interactual won't play the dvd at all.

  4. hrm..which movie and what region is it? could be just a bad disk....as for scratches...you have to look at the disc bottom from different angles to see some of the scratches, etc... happened to me before

  5. well, i'll try cleaning it but i don't think it's will work cause every other vob file plays fine. it's just that one file that keeps giving me problems. the dvd was eight legged freaks, and it's ntsc. i figure i'll just have to buy another dvd of it.

  6. o..if you can't even play the DVD correctly, then you should exchange it. i ripped that movie w/ no probs...it has to be the DVD itself then. however, once you exchange it and you still have the problems, then test it on someone else's dvd player and see.

  7. i tried it on my laptop as well and it still had the same error. so i tried my friend's copy instead to see if it was the dvd and i still got the same error on both dvds. i'm completely confused at this because all the other dvds i've tried work fine. it's this one that keeps giving me problems.

  8. if that's the case, it could be your dvd-rom that's not liking the DVD...did you try to rip the DVD on a friend's DVD-ROM?

  9. yeah, my laptop and my desktop. i haven't tried a friends but i used two different dvd-roms. not to mention i just watched it without a fault with windvd.

  10. well..if u watched it w/o problem on winDVD, then the dvd-rom and disc are ok, you should try to rip again...perhaps, using different ripping proggies or different versions (smartripper, dvddecryptor, claddvd, etc..)
