    An unmodified Xbox doesn't. If you build in a modchip, it can run a freeware media player that does play VCDs, albeit as of yet without any image enhancement filters (anti block noise etc.)

    The XBox DVD playing option is not very good at playing widescreen DVDs on 4:3 TVs by the way. Artifacts abound. Otherwise it's nice enough DVD player.

    to get xbox to play vcd you need to mod it itll cost you about 60 bucks the same price as a standalone dvd player but a plus is xbox can play divx/xvid at full speed
