Hello everybody!
I am trying to capture DV from my JVC cam (FireWire) with Ulead Video Studio. I am capturing to to DV AVI format , so it is practically just coping video from the tape to my hard drive. Well, it is not….. My DV AVI file is getting some type of audio noise. It is not constant and feels like some sort of distortion in the audio sampling frequency or rate.
AVI file reports 32.000 kHz 16 bit stereo – normal for the DV Type 1 format.
My target for this video is DVD. Converting to MPEG with audio at 48000kHz and rate 224 does not fix this noise. I know that noise is not present on the tape so something happens during capturing.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
Thank You,
Tim

Try DVio (http://www.carr-engineering.com/dvio.htm) for your DV transfers. Use type2. Or you could also try using EditStudio from http://www.puremotion.com, they have a free demo.
You may also be able to set Video Studio to use 48k audio, but I don't know how to do it.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
It might be also that your PC is too slow or some backround process is interuppting... Just a thought....
In Pinnacle's web forum was some guide that you shold kill all processes but 2 or 3 that are neccesery for PC to run....
Try to look up some info in your software. I just found some info in MyDVD how to improve quality of capturing. -
Try to reboot your computer right before you do a transfer. I had some capturing problems and this fixed them. It is worth a try.

I myself have a Sony which standard records in 12-bit/32kHz/4-channel. In the setup I was able to change it to 16-bit/48kHz/2-channel. Maybe this is also possible on your camera? In that way you don't have to resample the audio.
