honey, i shrunk the movie

Ok...

I converted a dvd to svcd.
using dvd2svcd with tmpgenc
original movie is 90 min (pal)
svcd (pal) is 2 cd, each 37 min: 2x37 is 74.

svcd are perfect, good quality, sounds is in sync, and i don't miss a thing.
but why is the svcd-movie 74 min?

can anyone explain it? is it simple logic or did i do anything wrong?
