I've been searching and researching but I am overwhelmed. What is a DVD player on the cheap, around $120, that plays VCD's well and DVD-Rs. This is important to me because I am going to back up all our family VHS tapes. Personal experiences would be great but not required. Thank you.

almost all dvd players these days will play both of these and more. especially the cheap ones imported from asia. i have had 2 in the past, an Eagle dvd player, which i took back because of a problem with subtitles always coming up in dvd's, and now have an auriga which i got for $180 (australian) and it works great, plays everything and has an inbuilt DD/DTS decoder
