It does just what it says it will do. Totally easy way to copy DVDs (you can be a total moron and do it), but most movies will have to be split into 2 disks (tho you can specify within a range, which chapter the movie will split at). Plus you can't copy the copies.

Whether that's worth $100 is up to you.

When you say you can't copy the copy's, that kinda sucks!!
So basically you have to always have the original.
Why did they make it so you can't copy the copy's?
    Thanks for the reply.

  4. its a great marketing method, they take the small amount of work out of splitting the dvd and do not want you to simply recopy it to your HD without having and using there program cha ching. So you sell your soul to the devil one must uses the devils tools.

you can actually copy the copy if you get rid of the archive.txt and the warning screen using methods found on this site.

just don't use their burning engine to do it

once the first disc finishes don't click to tell it to burn

just open up the folder on your hard drive and transfer the files to someplace else so that you can keep them for later to mess around with ifoedit

if you leave the files in their current folder the program will automatically remove them once it is finished

That's what I'm using now, but the single click method seemed appealing. For a hundred bucks though, I'd rather invest that in DVD-R's. Anyways I need the practice, so I'll stick to the 10hour method for now.

The way I figure it, if I really ever did want to copy the copy I'd just rip it with the other tools. Or you can make a couple of copies at a time using the interruption method someone posted above.

Anyway, I should have mentioned, wait until spring next year for CloneDVD, reportedly that will allow you to reencode to fit on one disk. For sure, CloneCD is a great product, so it should be good.

  10. Xdvdcopy can be a pissy application making you many coasters (not my experience, rather what I read in the forums.) why use it? It is NOT that difficult to split the main vobs with ifoedit and then make 2 dvd5's on your own. seriously

If you're smart enough to find these forums and install your DVD burner, you're smart enough to rip/split yourself.

The doom9 guides are good, or use mine (url in my sig).

  11. It works and is simple to use. There are ways to copy a copy as outlined on one of the post. I strongly suggest not to use the built in recording engine, use Nero instead.

TIP: Once it copies the first half of the original DVD to the hard drive, rename the temporary folder named "DVDXCOPY" This will allow you to save the vob files for later copying.

    2. To remove the archival status, BEWARE THIS TAKES A VERY LONG TIME!!

Just delete the stupid text file in the working directory just before the burn.

For all the gullable people out there, I was just kidding it only takes about 15 seconds.

I hear version 1.3 has integrated the Nero engine into the program, so not sure how this would affect the above.

    3. Of course after removing these, the "default burn engine" throws a "can't create image" error and says the disc will most likely not play after being burned. Sooo don't use the default engine, use the nero burn engine and it goes through just fine. Or just burn the video ts folder yourself with a different program. "
