i know this question has probably been asked a MILLION times.. but i haven't ever gotten or found a SOLID response.... so PLEASE no vague responses like "well i THINK its possible, try titelab and mpeg2decx" or anything like that.. if anyone knows a tried and true process to rip w/ osex and get subtitles into the final SVCD/VCD whatever--- i keep hearin things about mpeg2dec......is that the ONLY way to get subtitles into a svcd/vcd or any mpeg format for that matter? cuz im not a big fan of decoding a movie to like 20-30 gigs.. (especially considerin i dont always have that much space free) it is a common occurance to want to get subtitles into a vcd/svcd (especially anime, alot of ppl prefer japanese language with english subs) now PLEASE only a detailed answer laying out the process no vague responses.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

  2. There are many ways. You could do every thing with DVDx. You could use FlaskMPEG. both of these support subs. Thats the easy way. If you want to use TMPGEnc, you first have to decrypt, then make a DVD2avi project, then make an AVISynth script, then load the avisynth script into TMPGEnc. But there is a good guide for it right here http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/87065.php

  5. I don't have the answer that you want, but since you seem to know quite a lot about programming, couldn't you try to improve mpeg2decX so that it is possible to use apples mpeg2 encoder with it? (Not that it would help a lot for SVCD/VCD making, but for DVD. If it could recognize the bitvice encoder maybe, haven't tried that)
The source for mpeg2decX is avaliable from the site, hint hint

  6. Did you find the answer? I pulled out a movie with OSEx and including subtitles, but when I process it for (s)vcd, there are no including subtitles.
