I got Pioneer A05 right now but will switch to Sony DRU500a very soon. I want to know what DVD-Media is compatible with both drives and what speeds can be reached with that MEDIA.

I have tried on my A05
-RW:
TDK and Sony (both 1x) - Great MEDIA, NO Cousters, Also works on my Apex 1600 player
-R:
TDK (2x) - Great MEDIA, NO Cousters, Also works on my Apex 1600 player
Memorex (1x) - Bad MEDIA, Burned OK, but wouldn't play or even open on any CD/DVD-Rom and even on Apex 1600 player.

Can you please tell me which media will work flawlessly on DRU500a? Any other brands?[/b]

You donīt like to search, do you?
I have one SONY DRU-500A and I am very happy with it.
I used:
-R:
Princo General 2x: OK (reads well in Mustek / Nintaus)
Lead-Data General 2x: OK (reads well in Mustek / Nintaus)
Intenso General: 1x OK / 2x Fails in some pieces (reads bad in Mustek)
+RW:
Intenso 2.4x: OK (reads well in ASUS 16x DVD-ROM)
SONY 2.4x: OK (reads well in ASUS 16x DVD-ROM)
For more... SEARCH in this site like everyone else! 8) -
its true that Sony DRU-500A can handle a varity of media. I am not aware of one type of media that it can't support after firmware update. 1.0f
