  1. If I want to capture with premiere, then encode with TMPG to DVD specs, then import these MPEG2 files into Ulead, why does it ask me when I go to author what bitrate I want like it is going to re encode the MPEG2 files? How do I just have it write my VIDEO_TS folder and leave the encoding out?

  2. In your "Make disk option", tick "Do not convert compliant file"

  3. I'm using version 1.0, and I don't see this option under make disk option. Exactly where is it?

  4. You should get a 1.3 patch update from Ulead. it's a free download.

  5. When I go to install the patch, I get an error message that says it can't find Ulead 1.0 on my system. I get this after I do a clean install of Ulead. Crap! I am talking about Ulead DVD Workshop not Movie Factory

Videomax was talking about Workshop. Is your version 1.0 just a trial version? If so then the update patch won't work. If not then that does indeed sound a strange problem which is not easy to answer. I'd guess you may have to bite the bullet and talk to Ulead tech support but I know that can be a painful experience!!

Version 1.0 does not have the do not reencode compliant file checkbox. What you need to do to make sure it does not reencode is to choose a higher bitrate than that of your mpeg file.

For example, if you have created an mpeg2 file using TMPGEnc with an average bitrate of 4000kbps. When you click on create disc in DVD workshop it will ask you for a bitrate, if you choose a bitrate above 4000kbps it will not reencode. If you choose a bitrate below 4000kbps it will reencode at this lower bitrate.
