IT WORKS!

For anyone trying to get the Panasonic DVD-A7 to read your own VCD's try this:

I copied the VCD onto an Audio CD-RW, as well as a "normal" CD-RW, and the DVD-A7 reads both!

The DVD-A7 can not read CD-R, but can read CD-RW.

It might be obvious to some, but I struggled a little to figure it out.
