To get the audio to sync up with video. I import the Quicktime transcoded file and the .AC3-converted to .aiff into Final Cut Pro 3.
I notice that the Audio file is longer than the video file.
Is there a program that will let me turn an aiff file of say... 1:58:20
to say.....1:54.10 by "stretching or shrinking" without using FCP?
If I make the aiff match up in frames to the .dv file will they be in sync?
I know someone has tried this before and has a quick answer...

the audio is the correct length, when the video is by itself nothing will be giving you the correct time of the video due to 3:2 pulldown and variable framerate, any stretching or shrinking of the audio can lead to HORRIBLE distortion and is not even close to being the proper way to fix the sync issues. you do NOT want to mess with the audio, if you do get messing with the audio to work it will only be by flukes and will not consistently work.... EVER.

Dang, thought I came up with something smart.. oh well...
Thanks for the info, I'll try "stretching" the video track to sync up the audio in FCP. -
