  1. Title: Cannot successfully Use ForceASPI 1.7 to install the full ASPI 4.60 layer.

Can someone help me with this?

Upon downloading ForceASPI, I did the following steps as directed by many guides (ie. VCDeasy.org).

Run dumpASPI to backup your current ASPI layer
Run instASPI to install the new ASPI layer

(After the previous step, I got following error message: Cannot import WinNT\winnt.reg: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error.)

    Reboot your PC
Run aspichk to see if everything worked OK

(I got this message: ASPI is not properly installed. One or more components have been replaced with older versions of the software.)

Could it be that you opened the ForceASPI zip (with ie winzip) and then just drag/dropped them in a dir? The dir structure of the zip must be intact for ForceASPI to work, and if you drag/drop, just the files are copied from the zip to the dir where you dragged them. Make sure you have winnt.reg in a folder named WinNT below the dir where you put instASPI, and that you can open it with ie Notepad.

That's exactly what I did when I tried the first time I tried to use ForceASPI and I kept getting the same message as cyberseal.

So I just used the "extract to here" option in WinZip, re-ran ForceASPI and it worked. In fact, I was subsequently able to burn to CD using VCDEasy.
