  1. Help, I just bought a winbook j4 notebook pc. I cannot figure out how to get it to recognize my Sony Handycam Dig 8 when I plug it into the firewire port. Do I need to down load software if so where or does win xp have something on to do this. Basically the computer doesn't even acknowledge that I have anything plugged into the fire port. Help

Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  4. I too have a sony digi 8 camcoreder and it is possible you may need to install a driver which is founf on the disc that came with your camera

it doesn't acknowledge anything or does it say unknown device?

if it says unknown device u may need to use the driver or u may need to re-install windows. I had a problem that windows kept trying to force me to load a driver for the Dazzle dv bridge. The only fix was clean install.

Now however, i did along time ago read about a program that forces the sony cams to use the windows codec.

it might be something releated to ulead.

  7. I have the things you have and here is hat I do:

Plug in the camera (make sure that it is set to VCR)

    press play

use Premiere to capture movie, and save as avi

(use virtualdub if you don't have premiere.)

I do this instead of treating the camera as a device which is recognized in of itself, because like you, I never got that to work. Software does seem to recognize it though.

If I am speaking jibberish, please disregard it, I've been up all night trying to fix an mpeg2 file that isn't burning right.
