  1. Hello

Can anyone suggest which card I should go with?

I want to encode my VHS tapes to VCD/SVCD. I want the best quality I can get.

    I have a 1200 AMD Polywell w/ DDR ram.

Or is there a different capture card I should look into.

I have a G450e TV now but may return it, also, I can not get any audio in the input, I have to run it into the Mic. ???

    Thanks
    Brenda

Depends on your budget. I am looking into purchasing the new DV500Plus from Pinnacle systems for work. Expensive though.

However, the DV500 is very good too.

I use the DC30 Plus, which is good, I notice someone has posted one for sale just below your post, well it was just below.

  3. Brenda,
For your speed of machine, the G450 should be fine. ( Besides, the G400 Marvel is out of production so you're likely to be stuck there. )
As regards the sound problem, have you made sure you are recording from the Line-In and not the Mic. ( Apologies if this sounds patronising but these mistakes are the easiest to make. ) Just in case you don't know, you do this by double-clicking the sound icon, select Avanced and then select the controls for Recording. You will probably find that 'Mic' is selected instead of 'Line-In'. ( If you've already done this and I'm repeating useless advice, Sorry.... )
    Hope this helps.

Brenda never did reply... but yeah, what iant said. I always have to go in there and switch the record source because Dialpad always automatically switches back to MIC from where I have it, which is Line-in.

  5. I have a Marvel G400 which stinks. Going into the garbage bin. I wouldn't buy the G450 either because it's software capturing. Also have a Haug PTV which is better but not by much. Also going into the garbage bin. going to try the dazzle II.

Thanks for all the replys. Well, I ended up sending the Polywell computer back, they messed it up badly, I am going to get a XI now.

As for the audio set up, I did have it set in the audio mixer to record on the correct settings, but it still didnt work right. Polywell didnt test the video capture or they would have found this problem.

Anyway, I am still considering either a Maxtox or a Dazzle. I'm not sure what to do so I guess I'll just have to experiment.

I do not speak Spanish, the videos I am going to encode are Japanes music concerts. I have tons of them, no, I do not speak Japanese either but I love the music!!

    Thanks again for everyones help!
