Wahoo, my Samsung SD-616 16speed rips at 8X when ripping using DVD Decrypter, well starts at 3.7 then tops out at 8.1

Can I ask what speeds yours rip at? and also what make and model?

I ask this cos I'm sure my old Afreey 12X DVD was fast as anything ripping DVD's

This may be helpful to people like myself who have a seperate DVD-ROM or want one so they know what to get and what to stay away from

My Pioneer A04 sticks at 2.1 and would take 45 minutes to rip an average dual layer DVD but the SAMMY does the job, so I rip with that and obviously burn with A04

I've ripped Gladiator region 2 DVD 6.85Gb and split onto 2 DVD's and burned at 2 speed onto discs and it took 1Hr 08mins to complete whole process!

  2. I've got a Pioneer DVD-116 that is fast as hell!!! It usually starts at around 6-8x and goes up as high as 18x or something like that.. I forget the exact numbers but I can check..

All I know is when I rip and DVD5 it usually only takes about 6-8 mins!

    I'm quite happy with it!

  3. I have the Pioneer DVD116 too and is quite fast.
But I noticed a stange behaviour with SmartRipper.
It usually runs from 8x to 13x and it tells that will end in 5-6 minutes.
But actually it takes longer (20 minutes) and when finished, the system clock is 15 minutes late.
I noticed that the system clock sometimes was late and in the end I realized that happened during the ripping process .

    Anyone else noticed this ?

Another thing I have noticed is that if you open DVD Decrypter and select all the files and then leave it ready to rip

Start playing the DVD in your software player and stop it straight away but then start ripping with DVD Decrpyter

DVD decrypter gets up to some freaky speeds because its already read the data and its still in the memory

get you off to a good start

  5. I've got a lite-on 16X for ripping.

I see speeds from 6X on average for new dvd's on up to 12X for older ones.

  6. I only have a Pioneer DVR-104 and it starts @ 2x and rips up to 8x tops.

If I'm lucky it hits 8.1x
