  1. How to get a free DV Codec so that VirtualDub can open MiniDV camcorder footage for converting to DivX?

  4. I just tried with Canopus DV Codec. Even after installing it, VirtualDub could not open my DV footage. Any idea? Also do you have the Sony DV codec somewhere available?

    Thanks for all your help.

You might also want to head on over to this thread for other reading up
    on DV codec why's. . .
TMPGEnc doesn't accept .DV codec from a miniDV cam?!

I believe that I went into details, as to why you may not be getting
one codec to read YOUR clip, while in another codec, it does.

But, after reading the above, you may also want to note that you should
try other DV transfer apps to see IF the Canopus codec will read your
DV clip. The only way for sure, is to use a Canopus DV app or one of
their recommended apps for DV. Then,, you'll be able to open YOUR DV
clip w/ a Canopus codec. But, bare in mind that most codec (with the
exception of MS's) will suffice in quality. Don't always associate a
    "name brand" w/ quality

pst.. pst... .. I'm using DVsoft's DV codec in my DV transfers when I
use (mostly now) my fantasic ADVC-100 DV endeavors via DVIO app.

  6. Thanks. I think I will also test the VFApiReader as the videos open in TMPGEnc fine, only VirtualDub has a problem.
