  1. Using Nero in the "expert" mode (no "express), I continue to burn DVDs that will ONLY play on my PC. My stand alone DVD player gives me a "read error" when I try to play them.

I have matched the Nero "DVD Video" settings under the "ISO" tab exactly as indicated in the various burning guides (that is: "ISO Level 1" and "ISO 9660" selected, and "Joliet" and "Relax ISO Restirctions" DE-SELECTED).

Any thoughts on whether I have missed a hidden or buried setting that needs to be selected or de-selected?

Is it one of the odd ball players that doesn't play DVD+R or DVD-R?

  4. Could just be the brand of media you're using too - try another brand and see what happens (some dealers now do "sample packs" of an assortment of blank discs for this sort of application).

Don't forget that some brands may appear to me more compatible with your gear than others (my Sony DVP-S535 DVD player likes e-proformance, Traxdata and the white topped 1x Choice Media blanks, but doesn't work at all with Vivastar and is flaky with FWS, for example).

  5. I created a new backup via DVD-ROM (UDF) as recommended. It would not play on my reasonably new Toshiba SD-K700 either. I tested this latest copy and my previous "DVD Video" burn under Nero and they both worked fine on a different stand-alone DVD player.

Can anyone speculate why these newer DVD backups (note: same burner, same computer, same Nero settings) won't work on my reasonably new Toshiba SD-K700 when my FIRST 2 "DVD Video" burns play just fine on the Toshiba?

Is there a way to check burn "properties" on the burned DVD to determine whether something is wrong with one of my Nero burn settings? Toshiba says this unit will play a DVD+R with no problems.

    Thank you.
