I have been reading and can't seem to find a good answer to this question. Will the ps2 play dvd+r. I have used dvd decryptor to try to back up some ps2 games but now I have some coasters now. Is it only some versions of ps2 will play the +r or what? Thanks
Chad.

I don't know about dvd+r, but my ps2 plays dvd-r (although very shoddy, the ps2 is a piss-poor dvd player). You should be able to play the movies without need of a mod chip.
If you wanted to play a backup game, however, you would need a mod chip for the system.
