Can you have both MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 on the same disk?

Are we talking DVD here (and not S(VCD) ). Because if we are then in theory it is possible but I can't say I know which DVD authoring package, if any, will accept both in the same titleset.
Thinking about it, top end packages like Maestro or RELL DVD probaly would, but they are very expensive and require a lot of work to create good looking DVD's -
I guess an XSVCD would maybe take both provided you player can handle XSVCDs??
