Mpegs flickering (all) new problem

ever since dl 'sweet home alabama' from winmx, it and all my avi's and mpeg movies 'flicker'. even the avis and mpegs that were fine before dl sweet home alabama. everything was fine until then. it can't be a codec problem, i have all the codecs i need. nimo codec pack is fine for mpeg 4s, right? they flicker in every player i use, eg., realone, windvd, wmp. they don't flicker in virtual dub when previewing and they don't flicker on cd after i have burned as mpeg.

i did a system restore to before i dl sweet home alabama. that didn't change the problem.

anyone have any suggestions?

i found the problem. i had to uninstall Nvidia Display Driver that i got at windows update site. it was version 4.0.7.2. i am now using my ibm's drivers that were on it originally. apparently, some people are having problems with that driver. some people are not.
