This 8X DVD-ROM has about had it, so it's time for a new one.
I was looking at the Lite-On drives - cheap and seem to be pretty
decent drives.
Any other recommendations.

Lite-On drives are great ... i have had my Lite-On 16x for about 6 months now and works flawlessly ... my friend who bought a Pioneer 16x a month after me had his completely die already ... he has now ordered a Lite-On to replace it...

Anyway if you compair the manufactuers quality between Plextor and Liteon its obvious Plextor still wins... but liteons are great price/performance wise.
BTW good call on the Liteon DVD mine rips fast.
