Hi......I'm new here. I made my first vcd and was excited that it worked then stopped after 20 mins. it just froze. I've read the forums over and over again......and everything just goes over my head. They talk about changing this and that and I truely do not know what theyare talking about. If anyone could direct me in the right direction or give me step by step instructions (in very simple terms please) I would appreciate it.
I did check for bad frames and there were none. I encoded with tempgec and burned with nero.

The first thing I would do is look at the mpeg file you burned and play it on your computer. If the video ends after 20 minutes, then the file is cut short. If you've already deleted it off your computer, copy back from the VCD. It will be named something like "aviseq001.dat" under the "mpegav" directory (I think...you may just want to hunt for it). After you've copied it back to your hard drive, open Nero and use the wizard like you are going to burn another VCD. Once you get to the screen where you click and drag a file to burn, just click on the "aviseq..." file and rename it whatever you want ".mpg" Like "movie.mpg" then play it. then check the file before you burn it again. Then repost..... 8)Originally Posted by ashburn
Actually, now that I read your note about freezing and not just going back to the menu screen, you ay have a problem with the disk. Mine freeze like that after my kids put fingerprints all over them..... check that too.... -
make sure you don't burn the vcd any faster then 4x, 8x max.
Alot of players have playback problems on cd's burned faster then those rates and react much like you describe.
I never burn faster then 4x for movies.

I've heard differing opinions on that one too. I'm still operating off a 4x, 4x, 24x burner so I can't really form an opinion....Originally Posted by dc91gt
