  2. Again, why not return it? It will force you to basically reencode everything, and loose quality, will take time to reencode and burn... I'm not gonna bother, when just about every video card has an S-Video output and plays 'em all fine with no hassles, for even cheaper...

Got one too, and ain't returning it, it works like I want it too...

And btw, on your search for DivX's, just keep in mind to search after the ones encoded in DivX4-5 or Xvid Works superb here!

    Cheers!!!

  4. As for movies downloaded off the web... Let's not even get there (besides their quality is not the best anyways). And if you looked at other threads, you'll see lots and lots of issues about it... Not my money hehe

    jmc_uk,

curious, what's your issue with the KISS ??
    * you have to re-encode any and all divX v3xxx to 4/5 ??
    * all the divX (any ver) are poor quality, and doesn't play well in it ??
    * you can't find any really good divX for D/L to play in it very well ??
    * when you re-encode divX's (even your own) quality is STILL not acheavable ??
    .
    .
    * or, after tweaking it for some time now, you realize that it's not really
giving you quality (no matter who's divX you play [even mine]) after all ??
    .
    .
    * any and/or all the above or combo thereof ??

Please bare in mind, that even though this is a player divX type player, it's
not a standard. By that, I mean, IT IS better to have some standards in an
enocde format ie, divX... than to have MANY variations in a divX encode!!
Currently, there are SO MANY variation in a divX encode, that its virtually
impossible to satisify your KISS players' ability to play w/ good quality,
but by using some form or set of, standards.
If you don't have standards in an encode (and stick to them) then all those
divX peoples out there will continue to encode as they see fit. And, as
you D/L them, it's expected to more than likely NOT play very well and/or
with good quality. Let me guess... you're starting to see blocks now ??
or variations of ?? (well, this is w/ VCD/SVCD too, but not as serious, if
done/encoded right, but don't forget, that for VCD/SVCD, there are standards
w/ some minor variations, AND, dvd players [over time] have evolved to compensate
for the minor deviations in an VCD or SVCD encode, and therefore, will play
    w/ decent quality or better)
You have lots of divX peoples out there doing their own thing w/ divX and
half or more of them are not divX'erties, if you know what I mean. And, I'll
bet that some of these (if not most) are re-encodes of divX itself and some
of them, you have probably D/L'ed.
The is quite anal, but true.

My recommend is to give the KISS a bit more time. But, this time, DO YOUR OWN
divX encodes and see what kind of quality play you get. The, ask youself, "is
    it worth it ??"

If you want, some of us here may be able to share some divX samples (or
variatoins thereof) for you to test. Somebody has too... start somewheres.

I say, start doing your own. Create a system of standards. But, based them
on GOOD quality. Start from higest quality, and then work your way down
till you reach a point where quality starts to degrade. Then, start working
towards maximizing quality vs. size vs. ??? and MAKE THAT a standard in your
divX encoding processes. IMO, you MUST have standards. If not, at least
a framework/template to use in a divX encode project.

I'm not totally sold of divX, but I've come a long way from hating it, to
now liking it to some degree. Well, you don't here me talk negative about
it anymore. How can I... after what I've con-cocked by it thus far.

At the moment, I'm refining my divX process trying to find what I
feel should be a set of standards. But, at the moment, is kind of hard
pressing for standards, when so many users out there are doing their own
    thing, there own way.

If anything, I'd start a thread, asking for peoples opinions on settings,
and then agreeing to start using certain settings, thereby starting a set
of standards that many divX visitors (or beginners) can start using here
    as a guide.
    For example, I like using:
    * Fullscreen materials are best at 512x384 resolution
    * Widescreen materials are best at 640x298 resolution
But, the above is not tested under various conditions/setup ie, TV-OUT vs.
KISS player, vs. whatever else I'm missing here.
Maybe compile a set user opinion of settings, and go from there. I don't
know. I'm just trying to help somehow.
Bare in mind, that I'm still learning this divX stuff. So, by all means,
I'm not Guro at it, at this time.

    -vhelp
    ...some more divX samples

    Hello; crahak

Whats wrong with the Quality of downloaded movies from the Internet I download allot of Great Quality movies from Imesh and Kaza and use my Video Out on my pc video card hooked to my TV and plays nicely. Most of them are almost DVD Crisp Clear Quality, you just have to watch out for what you're downloading, if they would come out with a Stand-Alone player to play them it would be really great.

    TIA!
    William
