I've just bought a Canopus ADVC 100 and have captured a few VHS tapes to avi, for conversion to VCD, using Ulead DVD factory.

When I try and extract the wav from the avi using Virtual Dub, I get:

"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown)

Virtual Dub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

Goldwave splutters for about 10 minutes then decides that there's no audio data.

    Any advice?

  2. Do you have all the propper codecs installed? Try installing the nimo codec pack and see if that makes a difference. If it doesnt try the program Gspot to see what codecs you might need.

I've got Nimo installed as 'full'.

    Gspot reports:

Audio Format / Codec: No Audio channels

Direct show render / Audio Codec : Morgan Stream Switcher

    Any use?
