  1. I first made an attempt at this wonderful thing called VCD's 3 days ago, and since then I've been wrestling with the same problem. The audio seems to be out of sync with then video.

First off, I am trying to burn anime episodes I've downloaded off IRC. They appear to be DivX encodes when opened in Virtualdub. The sync problem does not start off right away, it seems to pop up here and there. It is also not consistent, just seems to come and go, and it is mostly noticable with voices/mouth movement. Sounds effects seem to be dead on.

I use Virtualdub to pull the audio from the .avi file into a .wav, then use TMPGenc to encode the .mpg file, and then I use VCDeasy to burn the .bin on a CD-RW. I am using a CD-RW for testing purposes so that I can write and re-write, since I wasted a few CD's at the beginning to unsuccesful tests. Could that possibly be an issue?

Anyway, I've followed all the VCDhelp guides exactly, I've even tried all kinds of tweaking on my own. Encoding without the pulled .wav, encoding in NTSCfile and NTSC, different aspect ratios. Some results are better then others, but it ultimatly comes down to the same problem.

I have however noticed something with my last few attempts, that makes me think its not an audio sync problem at all. At times, the video will speed up. Sometimes for a split second, maybe as long as a full second. The animation will just speed up, and then return to normal, seemingly at random.

Both the .avi and the encoded .mpg run fine on my computer with no sunc problems, its only when I burn them and play on my DVD player that I notice the problems. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks
