  1. Hi all - my first post (don't groan!)

I need to rip from SVCD or VCD directly to WAV and maybe also to AVI. Is there a tool that I can use? I've tried loads of freeware rippers and converters but they all seem to be going the other way - everything you like TO SVCD.

    Any help greatly appreciatetd.

    Cheers

  2. You can use TMPGEnc to save a wav or AVI file from an mpg. file-output to file-choose file type

  3. Thanks, Criag - I'll try that but where on the SVCD is the mpg file? THere's a large one with the extension .DAT - is that it? Should I copy it from the disc and rename it .mpg?

    Ta for any info.l

  4. Yes copying the dat to your hard drive and renaming it as mpg will be fine, another option is to extract the mpg from the dat file using vcdgear.

    Search Comp PM
if you have a .dat file then the cd was authored as an VCD and you will need to chande the .dat file to mpg . do a search and youll find how to convert it.

  6. Thanks for your help, chaps - very good of you.

I'm now able to properly decode my dat fiel to mpg then rip the audio out to mp2 then convert to wav! It'd be nice to find a utility to do it all in one step but I'm very happy none-the-less.

    thanks

  7. You don't need to go to mp2 first, I assume you are demultiplexing. If you follow the instructions in my first post you can save straight to wav
