I just got mine, went to 1.0d ok, and burned to the enclosed Sony dvd+rw just fine with Nero 5.5.1.7. The DVD is read ok by my PC, but not my Apex 600a. I'm trying to sort through the reports on media (all the while thinking that everything might change with the new 1.0e firmware coming out soon).

One thing that puzzles me is how much burning software matters. Some folks seem to get their good results from DVDDecrypter, others from RecordNowMax 4.5, others do fine on the latest Nero and so on. Would someone care to talk about the pros and cons of the programs? Is there one program that tends to be good for all burners, or does their effectiveness vary by burner? So, if someone raves about Nero and their Pioneer, does is that largely irrelevant for me?
